I bought a whole box of these, and they tasted really rancid. They were several months from their expiration date, so that wasn't the problem. Maybe I just got a bad batch, but I'd be unlikely to ever try them again.

I bought these simply because I wanted an easy snack, and the reviews were pretty good. I took two bites and stopped. The second bite was because I really couldn't believe that I disliked something that much.
The odor is pretty bad, too. These smell very medicinal, almost like a commercial disenfectant. Next time you're at a doctor's office try licking the counter, it's like that. Not that I've ever done that, but I can't describe it any other way.
Please try one of these locally if you can, I wouldn't suggest buying them if you can't.

I bought these Because Dr. Manny (FOX NEWS FAN!!) said they were better for you than the other leading bars on the market. Boy was he RIGHT these are Good!! the "filling" reminds me of a nut filled danish just not as sweet but just as satisfying... My husband looked at me funny but he tasted them and takes them to his training as a prework out boost as well as an after dinner snack as I don't but treats but these work for us !!

Very good - not a rich dessert by any means, but a healthy, filling snack. My kids really like them, and while they aren't low-calorie or really low-fat, it isn't full of sugar, and it contains "healthy" fat. The 5-grams of protein per serving really help with making you feel full.

My wife & I tried Betty Lou's Peanut Butter Nut Butter Balls for the first time just last night. What a delicious surprise they turned out to be. The chewy texture & peanut butter taste are delightful. They are a good source of protein, not too high in carbs or fat ( with no trans fats) and are good soucre of B-vitamins. An all-around tasty, convenient snack that is a far sight better than many other empty calorie treats we might have chosen. We can't wait to try any number of Betty Lou's other healthful products. Quite highly recommended!

These peanut butter balls barely taste like peanut butter. They came up in a glute-free" search, which is why I bought them, but they aren't gluten-free. They lack in flavor greatly and, for the price, I thought they would be a really awesome treat - nope!

I've tried some of the other versions these, but I keep coming back to the Peanut Butter. They taste great, are very satisfying and high in protein! They beat Balance bars for me.

No, these aren't Reese's Peanut Butter Cups. They have a distinct "health-food" taste. But they certainly are filling and they have a lot of energy. I ate two before the LSAT, a 5 hour ordeal, and they kept me going. Also great if you sleep late and need to run to class...just grab and go.

I did not like Betty Lou's Chocolate Walnut Nut Butter Balls as much as I had hoped I would like them. The flavor is not on the sweet side at all. I will eat them because do not want them to go to waste. I will just have to remember that they do contain healthy nutrients.
I put one in my organic apple-cinnamon cereal yesterday hoping that the cereal would sweeten them up a bit. I think I expected they would taste more like a granola bar but they did not.

I'm fond of Betty Lou's Butter Balls, this is the second flavor I've tried. And I like it, After reading some of the other reviews, I expected these to be somewhat bitter, but I haven't found them to be so. I was searching for a protein snack I could keep near my bed that didn't need to be refrigerated. And since I have candida problems plus am no fan of sweets anyway, these have really been pretty perfect. There doesn't seem to be much out there that's in market,,,,so many are flavored with some sort of sweetener or loaded with things I'm allergic to. So I'm grateful to Betty Lou.

I really like this treat. If you're on a low sugar diet, but you still crave the sweets, it's perfect. It's sweet enough to deal with that craving but is still high in fiber and results in a low glycemic index type of response. And it's very satisfying and filling - just the right size. And gluten-free, too. Yipee! Not to mention healthy & nutritious.

The product may look like some kind of sweet treat, but it is not. Taste is somewhat bitter from cocoa, and somewhat sour from fruit, there is a very little of sweetnes. I think it is not tasting like you would expect from the looks, and that is why all the disappointment comes from. It is just different. We call it "fake candy" and enjoy with tea. very nice healthy un-desert.

These bars, while a bit on the dry side, are a good snack for a busy individual. They are a healthy bite that pack a bunch into a small size. But again, the fat grams from the nuts are a bit much for someone trying to curb fat. Very "earthy" and not very sweet, but overall have a good flavor. These are, as I mentioned before, dryish...but they aren't very big so it's not that big of a deal really, they only last a couple of bites anyway. These are great for helping to incorporate spirulina into one's diet if you don't have spirulina powder or pills. 4 out of 5 for me because of the fat grams and the dry texture. But again, it's "health food" so if you are looking for something sweeter, this isn't going to do it for you.

I ordered these as a healthy snack to replace my vending machine habit. I had read some good (and not so good) reviews and bought a box.
These are fantastic...yes they are very 'green'...but then they do contain the superfood spirulina! As for the taste, it's sweet but not overly so. I'm diabetic so this was a big concern...but they don't spike my blood sugar and from reading up on the sweetening agents Fruitrim and Agave syrup this seems consistent. Apart from the sweetness they taste of almonds and a slightly sharp taste from (I guess) the spirulina. Anyway, on busy days two of these replace lunch with no feelings of hunger for a few hours. I did have the box on my desk and they seemed popular with my workmates! Fast, healthy snack which fills you up...might just replace Ramen as the perfect Geek food (I am a proud geek)! Just got my next box of 40...

If possible, I'd give Betty Lou's Spirulina Balls six stars. I had been searching for 'The Perfect Food' for years. My requirements? Portable, nutritious, natural, tasty but not too sweet. Not too big--and not too messy. Something that, if you had to pick one food to sustain you for a hiking trip or a hurricane, would keep you healthy yet taste good too. I tried snack bars, energy bars, health bars, nuts, gorps, even Ensure, you name it.
I'm sorry to admit I put off sampling these green gems after reading some reviews criticizing the color or flavor. But my curiosity finally got the best of me one day at the Natural Food Store's check-out counter. I bought one, stuck it in my pocket and forgot about it until I got the urge for a snack. Ah, the Betty Lou's Spirulina Ball--but what would it taste like?
Well, it was like Manna to me. Eureka! My search is ended. Made of almonds, fruits, grains & greens, it did not taste spirulina-y to me. But the inside sort of resembles a wad of green stuff from the underside of a lawnmower. Fortunately, it's humble appearance is deceiving--they taste good. Now I order the big jars online, they're much more economical that way.
I did try Betty Lou's Almond variety but it didn't appeal to me. Different strokes for different folks. You just have to taste things for yourself.

I gave this product 3 stars because of the magnificent nutritional content and the easy portability. I did not give it four or five stars because this product looks like and tastes like something that was scooped out of the kitty litter box. While that seems disgusting, these SG Balls are so similar, I cannot get that thought out of my head while I am eating them. I am just hoping that I will gradually grow to like the flavor and the look....
Great Nutrition, terrible taste in my opinion.

These treats are not, as a previous reviewer mentioned, Reese's. So if Reese's is what you are looking for go buy one of them. However if you don't expect a substitute Reese's they are quite good for what they are. The filling is not very peanut buttery flavored, and is firmer and chewier than a Reese's filling, and not as sweet as candy. The chocolate coating is very good, since it is not as sweet as candy chocolate you get more of the bitterish cocoa flavor than you would get with a candy bar. A nice sweet treat.

The first time I bought these I was a little disappointed. I guess I was expecting something more like candy.....Then one day I decided to give them another try and I cannot stop thinking about them! They are sweet, but not too sweet, chocolatey, but not too much chocolate, a little crispy and a delicious chewy texture. The store where I was getting them can't keep them in stock and they are out at the moment and I cannot stop thinking about them until I get some!! so I decided to look on line and here I found them! YUM!

Oh my goodness! These are so good! They make 2 other kinds & these are simply the best! They make a fabulous sweet snack that is somewhat filling. A healthier choice over other naughty sweets. They are even vegan if your looking for a vegan treat. The dark chocolate coating is thick. The peanut butter filling is thick & sweet. They are a decent size as well. You get one patty per package. You can easily throw them in a bag or your car for a quick yummy grab anytime, just don't let the dark chocolate melt! If you like these, you should try their other patties as well, sprulina & almond.

Like other reviewer's here, we've tried several of Betty Lou's delicious, healthy snacks in our home, including the peanut butter and the spirulina nut butter balls, but these Betty Lou's Coconut Macadamia Nut Butter Balls have become our new favorite. They are low in carbs, high in protein and thoroughly tasty. The coconut coating is particularly enticing. An excellent, convenient, nutritious snack for anytime of the day. Betty Lou strikes again!

I've been gluten free for about three months, and as someone with a sweet tooth, I've been a bit bummed lately at the lack of easy and quick treats I can find or keep on hand.
I went to the health food store and bought one of these individually to give it a try. I opened it in the car and almost went back in for more right then! Only the rain and a need to get on with my day held me back. I will most definitely be buying more.
If you like macaroons, these are fairly similar, crunchy but chewy, soft, sweet and tasty.

I love these! Soft and squishy, great coconutty coating. I highly reccommend these to any health foodie. They have the consistancy of cookie dough with little bits of nuts. Great not so sweet flavor and yes, not really overwhelmingly macadamia nut flavored. I only wish they were bigger. I also have the Spirulina and Ginseng from Betty Lou and love them but these IMO are even better. I have any many others have repeatedly stated, these don't taste like candy bars. If you want candy-bar sweet, get a candy bar. These are made for those of us trying to eat "clean" but still craving a treat . Great tasting with great ingredients, what is better?

Save your money - I wish I had...everything about this product is a disappointment. Who knew macadamias and coconut (two of my favorite things) could taste so bad...can I return seventeen and three quarters of the eighteen that I purchased...? Please?
