Okay, being a chocoholic and a vegan, with vegan siblings, nephews, etc... is difficult. I first bought Sjaak's at a vegan grocery in Portland (long live Food Fight!!), and brought them home to the peeps. Without dairy, some vegan chocolate is waxy... some is dry and bitter... and many are either too sweet or not sweet enough. So, what's a vegan chocoholic Goldilocks to do? Order these and keep them on hand. They are delicious-- smooth and creamy, and just sweet enough. They satisfy a chocolate craving with just one "square", but if you're hungry and you eat the whole thing, it will only cost you 270 calories, which is about the same amount as a bag of M&M's... for more chocolate satisfaction.
I have become bad auntie, bearer of these chocolate bars that my vegan nephews do not have to resist. I give them a square or two, and they thank me with gooey, cocoa colored 3 and 7 year old smiles and sticky hugs.
PS: You don't have to be vegan to enjoy these. I have a non-vegan chocoholic brother who's opening line when he stops by is usually, "Hi. Got any chocolate?" He happily eats these without complaint.

Out of the 3 cases of chocolate we foolishly ordered this has the best taste & that's not saying much. It has a dry crumbly peanut butter filling. The chocolate flavor is merely OK. I would only recommend this chocolate to someone I hated! The worst chocolate was their milk chocolate. How you mess that up is beyond me. The second worst was the rasberry dark chocolate. This was the best. Pathetic. We bought this because Amazon had it at 50% off & it sure sounded tasty especially with the clean, wholesome all organic ingredients. Don't be fooled! You don't want to eat this. Free isn't a good deal! There are fantastic organic chocolates out there. Go with those! Stay away from Sjaak's! Try Green & Blacks, Terra Nostra (terra nostra even has vegan I believe), & Endangered Species (10% of sales go to saving endangered species & the packaging has lovely artwork & info).

This is only slightly better than the putrid milk chocolate we ordered from them. Stupidly I ordered 3 cases of different organic chocolates through Amazon from this company because it sounded good, was organic, & 50% off. Great price for good chocolate. A complete rip off in this case. This is NOT good chocolate. I don't recommend it. It tastes very strange. It does NOT taste like chocolate. The raspberry filling is dry & dark. Weird. The ingredients are sound & clean. 100% organic. One would expect it to be rather tasty. Well I think doo doo might be tastier. If you want good organic chocolate there are lots of great brands out there waiting for you. Green & Blacks, Terra Nostra, Endangered Species & lots more.
